Hello from the new Examined Life Conference Director
Hello! I am writing to introduce myself – my name is Cate Dicharry and I have recently taken over the position of Director of the Writing and Humanities Program at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, which includes the great privilege of serving as Director for the Examined Life Conference and Managing Editor of the Examined Life Journal.
I am first and foremost a writer. I received my MFA in Creative Writing from the University of California-Riverside in 2012, and my debut novel was published by Unnamed Press in 2014. My next book is forthcoming! I have worked at the University of Iowa in a number of departments and capacities, most recently at the International Writing Program as Program Development Coordinator. I am thrilled to now have the opportunity to work in Writing and Humanities at the Carver College of Medicine.
This year’s Examine Life Conference Program is incredibly exciting and wide-ranging; I am eager for our days together in Iowa City discussing writing, health, bodies and the human condition. If you have yet to register, I certainly hope you will, at https://examinedlifeconference.com/register/!
I am also thrilled to inform you that, after a hiatus, the 2019 Examined Life Journal is available! We’ll be giving free copies to all our conference attendees, but if you can’t make it this year please visit the website to find out more about purchase and subscriptions, and be on the watch for upcoming announcements about our next call for submissions.
