The Examined Life Conference 2021 — Call for Proposals

The Examined Life Conference Call for Proposals is now open! Conference dates are October 21-23, 2021. To allow for possible limitations on our abilities to travel and other pandemic-related uncertainties, we are planning a hybrid in-person/virtual experience. What that means, exactly, will depend on your submissions and on future circumstances.  It is safe to say, however, that we will strive to use what we learned in 2020 to reach as many participants as possible.  Please note your preferences on the submission form!

The Examined Life Conference considers how the humanities and creative and performing arts are uniquely equipped to address questions of story, identity and personal experience as well as the social and cultural forces at work within health and healthcare situations. Conference sessions may deal with these questions directly or may address methods of creative craft, storytelling or other practices that can be used to engage these topics. Possible approaches may be through issues of well-being, self-reflection, creative conceptualization, creative execution or publication, or communication skills for healthcare providers, patients, family members, artists or scholars.

We seek proposals that focus on content you, the presenter(s), are passionate about. All disciplines are welcome.

If your proposal includes elements of educational methodology for healthcare professionals teaching in undergraduate or graduate medical education, or practice management for healthcare professionals interested in providing better service to patients, please describe those elements.
